On Friday at 8:42 a.m., police were called to the Exxon Gas Station on Wolcott Street in response to a report of a stolen car that had been left running and unattended.
New York resident and car owner Darrien Palmer, 36, reported his vehicle stolen with his 11-year-old child still inside to authorities.
It was eventually revealed, authorities said, that Palmer had lied about a youngster being in the car so that officers and resources could find his vehicle more quickly.
Palmar was taken into custody and accused of tampering with the 911 emergency system.
