Target made the awful announcement today that it will be closing a number of its shops around the country. Unfortunately for the people who live in the state of Virginia, a Target store in the state was one of the businesses that was named as being closed.
The Target store in Falls Church, Virginia, located at 500 S. Washington Street is scheduled to close its doors on May 13 owing to deteriorating sales performance. Also, they will be closing a nearby store in the state of Maryland.
The fifty people who are now employed at the store will be provided with opportunities to work at other Target locations close in the neighborhood.
The retail apocalypse has been wreaking havoc on communities all across the United States, with a significant toll taken in Virginia.
There have been announcements from a number of national retailers, including Bed Bath & Beyond and Tuesday Morning, that they will be closing stores across the state of Virginia, and there may be other announcements forthcoming.

Even the enormous online retailer Amazon is not immune to the shutting of physical locations. They made the announcement earlier this week that eight Amazon Go locations will be closing, although none of them are located in Virginia.
