Alex Jones Radio Career
He started his career in Austin working on a public access TV program with live call-ins before switching to radio in 1996 and anchoring a program on KJFK called “The Final Edition.” While he was a candidate for Congress, Ron Paul appeared on his show frequently. He and Shannon Burke shared first place in the Austin Chronicle readers’ poll for “Best Austin Talk Show Host” in 1999.
Later that year, because of his refusal to extend his themes and the fact that his opinions made it difficult for the station to sell advertisements, he was let go from KJFK. Then Jones started hosting his show from his house and streaming it online.
Jones ran as a Republican for Texas House District 48 State Representative in 2000. He stated that he was participating in the race to “be a watchdog from the inside,” but he later dropped out. Jones’ radio program was syndicated on about 100 stations in 2001. Following the 9/11 attacks, Jones started promoting the inside job hypothesis, which claimed that the Bush government was responsible for the attack. Must read: How Much Money Does Alan Jackson Make? After he emerged as the spokesperson for the 9/11 “truther” movement, some stations dropped him. The Genesis Communications Network syndicates “The Alex Jones Show” nationwide to more than 100 AM and FM stations in the United States. It drew almost 2 million listeners per week in 2010.

His counsel attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he was “playing a character” similar to a “performance artist.” Jones has consistently denied having a role in his program. Jones still has visitation rights despite Kelly being given sole custody.
Jones was detained and accused of drunk driving in Texas in March 2020. His DWI charge, a class B misdemeanor, was confirmed by the Travis County jail in Austin. He was taken into custody but freed on a “personal recognizance bail” four hours later.
Jones’ Earnings From Sandy Hook Denial
Chris Mattei, an attorney for the Sandy Hook families, argued during last Thursday’s closing arguments that Jones purposefully withheld the financial records he was asked for because he didn’t want the plaintiffs to have concrete proof that he had made money every time he mentioned Sandy Hook over the previous ten years through increased sales and viewership. Mattei displayed graphs demonstrating how Jones’ social media viewer engagement increased every time he mentioned the shooting on his Infowars platform, sometimes by more than 50%, even though “these families were drowning in grief.” Jones claimed that between 2012 and 2018, 550 million people watched his claims about the shooting on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube combined.
Mattei challenged the jury to calculate how much one person would be owed for a single lie and multiply that amount by 550 million. He suggested that each of the lawsuit’s 15 plaintiffs should receive that sum. To the jurors, Mattei stated, “Your task is to make sure he appreciates the damage he has caused.”
You know damn well that he doesn’t understand it at this time, thus In this second of three similar trials, the eight families and FBI agent claimed Jones’ repeated assertions that they were “crisis actors” who staged the massacre inspired his supporters to harass them both online and in person.
Each family was called to the stand by Mattei to describe their heartbreaking anguish over the loss of a loved one while being singled out by Sandy Hook denialists who probably learned about them from Jones’ broadcasts.
