A man wanted for murder in New Jersey has been arrested in Virginia, according to US Marshals.
On March 9, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that 24-year-old Brandon Montague of Jersey City had been arrested and was being held in Newport News, Virginia pending his extradition back to New Jersey in connection with the investigation into the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Tyreef Robinson.
On Saturday, March 4th, just after 10 p.m., reports of a shooting emerged from Jersey City.
According to the prosecution, the police in Jersey City were called to Bergen Avenue in reference to a shooting, and when they arrived, they discovered Robinson, who is also from Jersey City, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
After less than half an hour, at 10:27 p.m. on Saturday night, emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the site.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office received Robinson’s body and confirmed that he had died from gunshot wounds to the torso and bilateral lower extremities.
The ME determined the shooting was murder, and on March 9 authorities in Virginia arrested Montague.
