The Transportation Security Administration is currently accepting applications from both male and female candidates who are interested in working as Federal Air Marshals.
On Monday morning, the first day of the two-day hiring event got underway inside the Marriott Hotel at Newark Liberty International Airport. The event was scheduled to last for two days.
The Transportation Security Administration is looking to fill vacancies across the country, including those in the New Jersey area.
The starting salary is at $40,000, and it can go up to about $70,000, with additional pay and benefits available for people who work and reside in the immediate vicinity.
Although previous experience is not required, there is a comprehensive and strenuous training program involved in this position. According to Lisa Farbstein, the TSA’s spokesman for public affairs, candidates will go through a rigorous training program that lasts for sixteen weeks.

“Thus, if the absolute worst-case scenario occurs, just a small number of people will have a lot to accomplish in a very short amount of time, and we want to make sure that we obtain the best possible candidates. “We want to ensure that we’re being really truthful. This is not a simple task at all.
It’s a difficult life because you’re away from home, there are demands placed on your family, and it’s a difficult life because it’s tremendously fulfilling,” Brown added.

To be eligible to apply, candidates must be United States citizens or nationals, between the ages of 21 and 36 (with some exceptions made for veterans), have a minimum of three years of relevant job experience, and have either a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Tuesday morning, beginning at 8:00 a.m., the hiring event will continue at the Marriott at Newark Liberty International Airport.
