In the most recent episode of Hot Ones, New Jersey was mentioned multiple times. Those who are new to the show should know that it is an interview series in which the host, Sean Evans, and the guest sample 10 wings of progressively higher heat levels.
At the point when the guests begin to realize that the wings are hotter than they bargained for, Evans begins to pepper them with questions.
As the heat increases in Scoville units, the typical response is to sweat, burp, and down milk. The trip is an epic adventure.
Ramy Youssef, an actor, and comedian was recently the subject of an interview. Youssef may have been conceived in the Big Apple, but he spent the majority of his formative years in Rutherford, New Jersey, so he can claim to be a native Garden State resident. After Evans questioned Youssef on his comedic background, he pressed him for more details on the Garden State.
Wawa
“Everyone recognizes a Wawa. Incredibly, Wawa is fantastic. It reminds me of a convenience store, but it’s actually an entire way of life.
Jon Bon Jovi
Holy crap! Legend.” Youssef tells Evans he was a fan of the Jersey musician back when he was a kid.
After eating a final bite of wings doused in extra hot sauce, Evans inquires about a source of Jersey pride. When referring to Youssef, he says,
I’ve had some of my most formative chats at the counter of a diner. That’s how Jerseyans roll: at three in the morning, at a diner. Then he turns to Youssef and inquires about the nature of his tribute to Jersey diner culture.
Having a place open all night where you can go and receive a hot dinner is appealing. Youssef’s eyes seem to light up with fond memories as he talks about the Candlewick Diner, though this could well be due to the hot sauce he’s been eating.
His life-altering decisions were hammered out with buddies at this diner. Perhaps it was in a diner booth that I made up my mind to tie the knot.

It’s like sitting in a church pew, except with food instead of worshipers. Wow, you really think highly of Jersey’s diner scene!
It’s true that nothing beats taking in the sights and sounds of a bustling diner from the comfort of a booth. The familiar surroundings and meals provide a sense of security that can’t be found elsewhere. The full episode is embedded below.
