The Number of Covid Cases in New Jersey is 1,817, and 26 People Have Lost Their Lives. The Number of Successful Lab Experiments Keeps Rising.

As positive tests rise, New Jersey health officials recorded 1,817 cases and 26 deaths on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the transmission was 1.00 statewide. A transmission rate of 1 implies a stable outbreak, while anything above 1 suggests a growing disease.

The state’s seven-day verified positive test average is 2,132, up 13% from last week and 25% from last month.

Despite mounting positive tests, New Jersey has not witnessed a repetition of last winter’s spike. Jan. 3, 2022, the seven-day average was over 25,000 positive tests.

The CDC classifies 15 of the state’s 21 counties as “high” for coronavirus. Sussex, Morris, Warren, Essex, Somerset, and Atlantic are considered “medium” COVID-19 counties by the CDC.

69 of the state’s 71 hospitals reported 1,631 coronavirus cases Tuesday night. Two hospitals didn’t disclose data, but that’s the most patients since February 2022. 182 are in intensive care, and 60 are on ventilators.

CDC deems positive rates above 10% “high.” New Jersey’s positive rate is far lower than its peak of 40.83% on Jan. 1, 2022, during the omicron variety.

New Jersey has 7.1 million fully immunized residents. Since Dec. 15, 2020, almost 8 million people have received their first immunization in the state.
