The Editor’s Note: Your Contribution to the Emergency Relief Fund is Greatly Appreciated.

Central Jersey citizens, according to the tradition they’ve kept up for decades, have once again shown their generosity and goodness by contributing to our annual Needy Cases Fund during the holiday season.

It’s heartening to see such a positive response to the annual fundraising every year, even in the face of inflation and persistent pandemic fears.

For more than seven decades, the Needy Cases Fund has become a part of Central Jersey’s annual Christmas celebrations.

The Home News Tribune and the Daily Home News, both predecessors, partnered with the Lions Club of New Brunswick to fund and organize the community service event. Courier News has joined the Home News Tribune as a sponsor in recent years.

From Thanksgiving to Christmas, 10 local Central Jersey groups were highlighted in the Home News Tribune, Courier News, and MyCentralJersey.com. This year’s recipients were the Martin Luther King Youth Center, Community Access Unlimited, Aldersgate Outreach Community Center, Fish Inc. – Dunellen Area, and Make-A-Wish New Jersey.

And you showed compassion and understanding for our Central Jersey neighbors who are having a tough holiday season. They deal with the difficulties provided on a daily basis by health and economic factors beyond their control.

Over $11,280 was contributed to the Needy Cases Fund this year due to your kindness. More than $550,000 has been collected over the past two decades.

The Lions Club of New Brunswick keeps a separate account for the Needy Cases Fund, and officials from MyCentralJersey.com and the club decide how the money will be distributed.

This year’s benefactors who proved that kindness triumphs over adversity are listed below; we are grateful to each of them.
