According to the Police Department, the Tacoma Police Department began their search for a truck driver who had fled the scene of an accident on Tacoma Avenue South that involved two vehicles and left another individual with life-threatening injuries on Monday morning.
According to a spokeswoman for the Tacoma Police Department, a police dog was dispatched to the scene of the collision that was reported on Tacoma Avenue South, but the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident could not be found.
Between South 13th and South 15th streets, the road was closed due to an accident. According to the police, the closure was anticipated to last for a number of hours.
According to the police, the collision took place when the driver of a U-Haul pickup truck was heading south on Tacoma Avenue and drove through a red light, which caused the driver to collide with another car that was moving through the intersection.
The spokesman for the police department, Wendy Haddow, stated that the pickup was traveling at a rapid pace. It was approximately 5:50 in the morning when the mishap was reported.
According to Haddow, the impact caused the victim’s automobile to spin, which led to it colliding with a building. The driver of the pickup truck quickly fled the area.
According to Haddow, the Tacoma Fire Department went to the scene of the accident and extricated the victim from their vehicle. That individual was taken to the hospital through medical transport.
