The victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Sunday evening in Brooklyn has been recognized by the police.
Katherine Harris, 31, was reportedly trying to cross the street when a speeding Volvo vehicle crossed the red light and struck her, then smashed into a Honda Accord just before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Henry Street. The authorities say the Volvo vehicle then slammed into the Honda Accord.
It was determined that she had passed away at the site.
According to the police, the male driver, who is 27 years old, has been taken to prison. At this time, charges have not yet been filed.
An individual who was present at the time of the incident provided their account to News 12, saying, “I think the guys were going about 70 miles per hour.” They were only competing in a race. This particular intersection is well-known for it.
Officers reported that the man who was driving the Accord and was 40 years old is doing fine.
According to the witnesses that News 12 spoke with, racing in the neighborhood is an ongoing concern.
