Nassau police allege that a thievery ring based in South America, specifically Chile, Venezuela, or Colombia, is responsible for 90% of the city’s current burglaries.

Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder described the gangs as “continuing organised theft groups” that had been dispatched up north specifically to perpetrate crimes in the region.

He claims it’s all part of a cycle, wherein one group of thieves is apprehended and deported back to South America, while another group is dispatched to the United States.
