On Tuesday morning, member Jin of the South Korean pop group BTS said his goodbyes to a number of admirers located all over the world before enlisting to serve his country’s necessary military obligation.
Before departing for military duty, the 30-year-old vocalist sent a statement on the online fan community site known as Reverse to address the members of BTS’s fan club known as ArMY.

He wrote in Korean, in reference to a character in the video game League of Legends called “Jhin,” “Now it’s curtain call time,” which translates to “now it’s time for the curtain call.”
Jin, who is passionate about gaming, shared his desire to participate in the activity by stating, “I wanted to do it when I got to the army.”
The management agency for BTS, BigHit Music, announced on Monday that Jin will visit the grounds of the recruit training center in a car rather than meeting the media or fans individually.

The corporation with its headquarters in Seoul had also requested that the ARMY and members of the media refrain from crowding the location.

According to reports in Korean media sites that cited military and industry sources, on Tuesday Jin would report to basic training at a frontline army division in Yeoncheon, which is located approximately 60 kilometers north of Seoul.
It is mandatory for all able-bodied South Korean males between the ages of 18 and 28 to serve in the military for approximately two years.
It was decided that none of the BTS members would have to begin their mandatory military service before they became 30 years old.
