White signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots in 2017, and the following season he was appointed team captain for the first time in his career. The Patriots fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 41-33 in Super Bowl LII, but they beat the Chiefs 37-31 in overtime to get to Super Bowl LIII.
