The deadline for submitting a claim for a property tax rebate in the amount of $1.5 thousand dollars in New Jersey has been extended to the end of February.
People in the Garden State are getting some help from the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) programme.

New Jersey homeowners and renters who own or occupy their houses as of October 1, 2019 are eligible for property tax relief through this programme.
In his announcement, Governor Phil Murphy gave a new deadline of February 28th, 2023. The original date was December 30, 2022, and the new one is January 31, 2023.
Up to $1,500 will be awarded to eligible homeowners with a gross income of up to $150,000 in 2019. Everyone with a gross income between $150,000 and $250,000 will receive a $1,000 bonus.
If a tenant’s annual household income is less than $150,000, they will be eligible to receive a $450 subsidy. People who own their own homes but have an annual income of more than $250,000 are ineligible, as are people who rent but have an annual income of more than $150,000.
There is also a prohibition against homeowners who are exempt from property taxes or who make P.I.L.O.T. (payments-in-lieu-of-tax) payments. Also ineligible are tenants of tax-exempt, subsidised, or on-campus accommodation.
