Harry Styles is now in Venice for tonight’s premiere of Don’t Worry, Darling. Before slipping into what we expect to be a red carpet show (in Gucci, of course), the 28-year-old Styles is serving it up on the jetties of Italy’s wettest city. Styles threw a fuss when arriving via water taxi for a photocall for the film directed and produced by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde.
And with his personal style laced with a Seventies sensibility (baggy slacks, broad shoulders, and tinted shades), it’s no surprise that Styles paid homage to one of the decade’s most successful Brits as well as one of the music industry’s most daring dressers, Elton John.

Styles was decked out in an enormous cream striped jacket, blue wide-leg pants (a hallmark look), and a scoop-neck vest as soon as he got off the water taxi. standing up? a set of tassel loafers in chocolate brown. Good so far, Styles.

It’s difficult to ignore the similarities between Styles Gucci’s latest enormous suit and the kinds of things Rocket Man has worn throughout his career, whether or not that was a conscious decision. Details held the key.
The 75-year-old even has a set of knuckle decorations that spell out his name. Styles adorned his fingers with a variety of rings (again, Gucci), which sparkled in the Venetian sun and the flash of paparazzi.
Styles donned an enormous cream pinstriped jacket with blue wide-leg, floor-skimming pants (a hallmark), and a low scoop neck vest when he stepped off the water taxi. He’s on his feet? A pair of brown shoes with tassels. So far, Styles has met expectations.
Styles also wore a pale blue and yellow striped scarf, which was his trademark at the height of his fame, as any fan of John will remember. John wore him over a military-style jacket with a loose tie around his neck (again, a signature one).
We don’t need to tell you that Elton John‘s own collection of sunglasses is as extensive as her top-charting singles; Styles served EJ in style while wearing a pair of enormous, insect-like oak-rimmed Gucci sunglasses on his head.
