An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Declyn Lauper, who was found sitting in the driver’s seat of an unregistered 2014 Mercedes-Benz C350. A member of Cyndi Lauper’s family has into afoul of the law.
Lauper’s son, Declyn “Dex” Thornton Lauper, was taken into custody by police in the early hours of Thursday morning after they allegedly located him in a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz C350, according to reports.

Cyndi and Dex‘s representatives did not immediately reply to a request for comment from PEOPLE. Officers saw the vehicle unlawfully double-parked at the junction of West 140th Street and Broadway at roughly 1:40 a.m. and discovered that it had been stolen.
When the car was taken two years ago, TMZ discovered that the plates were registered to a different vehicle. Felony unlawful use of a vehicle was filed against the 24-year-old man who was brought into custody. An arrest warrant was issued, but he was freed with a summons for a future court date.

Since being released from detention, Dex, a musician with more than 2.3 million Instagram followers and a past collaborator of G-Eazy, has maintained a social media presence. Some of his posts included screenshots of what looked to be a video of the arrest.
David Thornton, whom Cyndi married in 1991, is the father of her only child, Dex. On her reality show Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual, which aired for one season on WeTV in 2013, the Lauper family appeared together.
