Because of the Nor’easter Expected to Hit New York and New Jersey on Friday, Schools in Both States Will Be Closed or Have Delayed Openings.

Schools in many parts of New York and New Jersey have stated that they will open later than usual on Friday due to the strong coastal storm that is expected to bring snow, heavy rain, and significant wind gusts to the area.

Thursday was the first day of the ominous nor’easter. The forecast called for the rain and the strong gusts to continue into Friday, which would have an effect on the morning commute.

It’s possible that the rain will continue falling for the better part of the day. Additionally, wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour were predicted.

  • Monticello CSD – Closed
  • Onteora Central Subdivision Drainage District:

The Garden State:

  • A ninety-minute wait is expected at the High Point Regional SD.
  • Montague SD – 2-hour delay
  • Sussex-Wantage Regional SD — 90-minute delay
  • Vernon SD – 2-hour delay
