A Worker at a Bodega on the Upper East Side Was Shot and Killed. The Suspect Later Robbed a Store in the Bronx

Late on Friday night, a robbery at a convenience shop on the Upper East Side resulted in the death of a worker at the store. The police suspect that the same gunman, who was dressed in a hazmat suit, may have robbed another store in the Bronx half an hour later.

After entering the Daona Deli located on East 81st Street and Third Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m., the suspect is said to have demanded money from an employee there.

The assailant proceeded to shoot the victim, who was 67 years old, in the head. It was determined that he had passed away at the site.

The suspect made his getaway on a scooter heading south on Third Avenue, and the police believe they located him around half an hour later in the Bronx, where he held a clerk at gunpoint inside a Yaya Deli.

Throughout the course of such an event, nobody sustained any injuries. The shooter made his escape down 160th Street after fleeing Melrose Avenue earlier. He is still at large.

The unique disguise the suspect was wearing, which consisted of a white Tyvek hazmat suit and a black mask, let authorities identify him as the person responsible for both instances.

A reward in the amount of $5,000 is being offered by the United Bodegas of America for any information that leads to an arrest in connection with these instances.

The victim was reportedly a good-natured individual who was extremely loyal to his family, according to the employees at the bodega on the Upper East Side.

A friend of the victim, Angel Vieera, described him as “A good guy, a family man… you can’t define how nice he was… always hardworking.” Angel Vieera was the victim.
