Late on Friday night, a robbery at a convenience shop on the Upper East Side resulted in the death of a worker at the store. The police suspect that the same gunman, who was dressed in a hazmat suit, may have robbed another store in the Bronx half an hour later.
After entering the Daona Deli located on East 81st Street and Third Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m., the suspect is said to have demanded money from an employee there.
The assailant proceeded to shoot the victim, who was 67 years old, in the head. It was determined that he had passed away at the site.
The suspect made his getaway on a scooter heading south on Third Avenue, and the police believe they located him around half an hour later in the Bronx, where he held a clerk at gunpoint inside a Yaya Deli.
