After the body of a New Jersey kindergarten teacher was discovered in a shallow grave, police have detained at least one of at least two suspects in the case.
U.S. marshals arrested 36-year-old Cesar Santana at a Miami hotel on Friday; he is being held on murder charges in the killing of 33-year-old Luz Hernandez.

Hernandez’s estranged spouse Santana was originally reported missing after she failed to show up to work at the BelovED Charter School.
Although Santana has not been accused of killing his ex-wife, he will likely face more charges in New Jersey once he is extradited there. The pair had three children together.
Santana is accused of desecrating a grave and hiding human remains.
Leiner Miranda Lopez, 26, another suspect, is wanted for the same crimes but has yet to be located.
Santana and Lopez were linked to the crime because they were both stopped for a traffic violation on February 5 near where Hernandez’s body was found.
The autopsy found that the victim had died from head trauma and neck compression.
The story states that authorities believe she was strangled with a cord and bashed over the head with a hefty weapon.
