PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, NJ — In connection with a deadly drug overdose that occurred in Pequannock Township on November 15, 2021, David Pezak, age 34, formerly of Saddle Brook, was arrested yesterday on charges of first-degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death and other drug-related offenses.
Pezak is being held in custody at the Morris County Correctional Prison at this time until the outcome of upcoming court hearings.
According to the statute known as “Strict Responsibility for Drug-Induced Death,” people who produce, distribute, or dispense prohibited dangerous chemicals are held rigorously accountable for any death that may come from the use of those substances.
The felony of the first degree is punishable by up to twenty years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the restrictions of the No Early Release Act that stipulate ineligibility for parole of 85 percent.
