After a major fight broke out between more than 60 adolescents, the authorities were called to the scene to break up the battle and remove the participants.
In the Boulevard Mall, the parking lot, Alberta Drive, and the Wegman’s parking lot, law enforcement officers from Amherst, Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, UB, the Erie County Sheriff’s office, and the State police were all present to break up multiple confrontations.
The cause of the incident has not been made public by the police, nor have they disclosed whether or if any arrests were made in connection with the brawl.
The call for police assistance came in just after 11 o’clock at night, which is several hours after the mall had closed for the day. According to the information provided on their official website, the Boulevard Malls are open on Saturdays from 11 am to 7 pm.
The altercation started towards the back of the shopping center, close to where Macy’s and the screening room are located. This side of the mall is adjacent to Wegmans and faces Alberta Drive.
This is not the first time in the past year or so that a major brawl has broken out at a shopping center in the region.
