A Hudson County jury found a guy from Florida guilty on all counts in the fatal February 2021 shooting of a man from Jersey City.
This afternoon, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that a Hudson County jury has found Florida resident Ariel Dumit, 37, guilty on all counts on February 28, 2021, shooting murder of Christian Parra, 34, a resident of Jersey City.

The court found Dumit guilty of first-degree murder, as well as second-degree crimes including unauthorized possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After a two-week trial, the Honorable Carlo Abad, J.S.C., has reached a verdict. Erica Bertuzzi and Luisa Florez, assistant prosecutors for Hudson County, represented the State in this case.
According to prosecutor Suarez, officers from the Jersey City Police Department were called to the BJ’s Parking Lot on Marin Boulevard in Jersey City at around 8:18 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021, after reports of gunfire.
Officers located a man with a gunshot wound to his torso; he was later identified as Christian Parra, 34, from Jersey City. At 9 o’clock that night, he was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center.

The method of death was ruled to be a homicide and a gunshot wound to the torso was determined to be the cause of death by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
Sentencing for Dumit is expected to take place on Thursday, July 13, 2023, and he could receive anywhere from 30 years to life in a New Jersey state prison.
