Who Is Mark Field? Tory MP for London and Westminster Said He Will Not Be Running in The Upcoming Election!

Conservative Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster Mark Field has declared he will not be running in the upcoming general election because of the “fractious and feverish” political climate caused by Brexit.

This summer, Field was the centre of controversy after he was seen on camera roughing up an environmental protester during the chancellor’s lecture at Mansion House.

In a statement to his local organisation, Field, who has held the seat since 2001, bragged about his image as a “moderate, consensual MP, invariably willing to work effectively across party lines to the benefit of residents and communities alike.” However, he continued, “such a pragmatic, cooperative approach to public service has been tested to destruction in the turbulent, feverish, and extremely divisive aftermath of the EU referendum in 2016.

Who Is Mark FieldMark Christopher Field, born on October 6, 1964, is a British politician who, from 2001 until 2019, represented the constituency of Cities of London and Westminster as its Member of Parliament (MP). He was a member of the Conservative Party and served as a Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2017 to 2019. Well-known for backing Britain’s continued membership in the European Union in 2016 and Jeremy Hunt’s leadership campaign in 2019.

Early Life

The field was born on October 6, 1964, in Hanover, Germany, at the British Military Hospital. Peter was the son of a British Army major and a German woman named Ulrike (née Pipe) who passed away in 1991 and 2010 respectively. Reading School (a public boarding school) and St. Edmund Hall (an Oxford college) provided Field with a solid foundation from which to launch his academic career; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence there in 1987.

During his time as a student at Oxford University, Field worked as a personal assistant for John (now Lord) Patten, the Conservative MP for Oxford West and Abingdon. After graduating from Oxford, Field went on to study as a solicitor and practise business law with Freshfields from 1990 to 1992.

Kelly Field Consulting, a legal staffing firm he founded in 1994 and ran as director until 2001, had a dozen employees and annual revenue of about £2 million. After he was elected to Congress, he sold his stake in the company to a group that included his former business partner.

Personal Life

Former investment banker Michele Acton was Field’s first wife. They wed in 1994. In 2019, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Society of Medicine. The field had an extramarital romance with married woman Liz Truss in 2004–2005;

the Conservative Party chose him as her political mentor at the time, which led to their divorce in 2006. The field was removed from his position as Foreign Office minister by Theresa May following the Mansion House incident, but he was allowed to keep the Conservative party whip.

As soon as he became prime minister, Johnson removed Field from his position as a minister but also halted a Whitehall probe into the protester Janet Barker’s treatment. Former Labour MP Chuka Umunna said that he would run for the Liberal Democrats in Field’s seat in the next election.

In an interview with the I newspaper last month, he explained that he thought he would be a better representative for the area because of his “liberal beliefs” and his stance against Brexit. In 2017, Field won a plurality of about three thousand votes and kept his seat.
