According to the Jersey City public schools’ official website, King, then 35 years old, taught third grade at School 5. Since 2013, she had been an employee of the Jersey City Public School District. For her efforts in 2018, she received an award from the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education.

The tragic death of Temara King has left the Jersey City school district devastated, according to Superintendent Norma Fernandez.

The prosecutor’s office did not elaborate on the nature of Cooper and King’s relationship.

Emergency medical services took her to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was declared dead at 8:06 a.m., the prosecutor said. Due to the ongoing domestic violence investigation, the prosecutor’s office has stated that no further details may be provided at this time.

Suarez said the investigation and arrest were a joint effort between the Homicide Units of several agencies, including her own, the Jersey City Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, the Pennsylvania State Police, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey, the United States Marshals Service Middle District of Pennsylvania, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Allentown, Pennsylvania, Police Department.
