NEWARK, N.J. The Newark Police Department is looking into a report of an assault and robbery that occurred on February 6 in the Lafayette Street neighborhood.
Police have issued images of a suspect wanted in connection with the incident and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him or her.
Fritz G. Fragé, Newark’s Director of Public Safety, is asking for the public’s help to identify the male suspect seen below in connection with an armed robbery that took place on February 6.

Once the victim got out of a car in the 400 block of Lafayette Street, the suspect and another man approached him at gunpoint.
The culprit hit the victim and drove off into a stolen car that was later found on February 5, 2023. The suspect is shown as a Black man, 5’8″ tall, slender build, and dressed in a black Adidas sweatsuit with a hooded sweatshirt.
The second suspect, who is not seen, is similarly black, has a slim frame, favors dark attire, and sports white Jordan sneakers, according to the description.
