As he was recognized at the filming of CMT Giants: Vince Gill on Monday, his wife, Christian singer Amy Grant, was conspicuously absent because she is still healing from a bike accident that brought her to the hospital in July. However, her spouse provided a positive report on her health.
On the red carpet, Gill told ET, “She’s doing wonderful. She’s really upset that she couldn’t be here tonight, but Vince said, “With her accident and everything else, they kind of concluded that the best thing for her to do is just be still. It’s all okay because she is aware of how highly loved, thought of, and represented she is tonight.
Grant hit a pothole while biking with a friend close to her Nashville home, according to Grant’s representative, who spoke to Yahoo Entertainment at the time of the accident. Despite having a helmet on, she still needed to spend two days in the hospital at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for recovery.
The 61-year-old Grant, who underwent surgery to treat a rare congenital heart defect in June 2020, immediately postponed several concerts. “Following a brief hospitalization where she was treated for her injuries,” the rep said on July 29, “doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home for Amy, where she is now resting comfortably.” On the advice of doctors and friends, she declared the next month that she would have a “very simple fall season.”

Gill was joined at the celebrity-studded event by his adult daughters Jenny, whose mother is his performer ex-wife Janis Oliver, and Corrina, his daughter with Grant, as his wife of 22 years and the usual date was unable to attend. In addition, the “Every Heartbeat” singer’s marriage to Steven Curtis Chapman produced three adult children.
Corrina may be recognizable to fans as the daughter who joined her father during his moving tribute to her mother last month at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
