Parking Lot Argument Leads to Arrest of New York City Couple on Attempted Murder Charges

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Arturo Cuevas, 30, and Daisy Barrera, 27, both of Woodside, were indicted and arraigned yesterday on counts of attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a firearm following a violent confrontation with their neighbors, as stated by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

It is believed that the incident was revenge for an earlier argument over a parking space.

The couple faces up to 25 years in jail if found guilty.

Wilson Chabla Lliguicota, 28, a Woodside resident, was reportedly confronted by Cuevas on March 17. Barrera hit Lliguicota over the head with a baseball bat, while Cuevas repeatedly stabbed him with a pocket knife.

Lliguicota’s girlfriend Delia Chimbay was also attacked by the pair when she tried to intervene.

During a 20-minute standoff in their apartment complex, both suspects were taken into custody. After transport to Elmhurst Hospital, Lliguicota had brain surgery to repair the damage.
