According to the Associated Press (AP), the New York Police Department said on Monday that a citizen of New York City named Roland Codrington had been arrested. Codrington is accused of committing two seemingly unrelated killings that took place three days apart during the holiday season.
A 51-year-old man called James Cunningham was reportedly the victim of the first homicide, which took place early in the morning on December 19 near Union Square. According to the police, Codrington cut him across the neck with a knife.
Codrington and his girlfriend had happened to pass the man as he was out walking with his girlfriend after the man had been drinking seltzer in a local bar.

The following day, on December 22, Codrington allegedly went to a pub in the Lower East Side with a pit bull and a baseball bat, assaulted the bartender, trashed the property, and stabbed two customers with a knife, causing injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
After that, authorities say Codrington went for a walk through Marcus Garvey park, where he saw 60-year-old Dr. Bruce Maurice Henry, grew upset after having a conversation with Henry, and then repeatedly stabbed him.
Henry was taken to the hospital with several knife wounds. After several hours, the body of the doctor was discovered.
