The head of the New York Police Department (NYPD) had a little holiday fun on Twitter on Christmas Day by tweeting a photo of someone costumed as the Grinch riding shotgun in a police cruiser.
Officials “arrested” the Dr. Seuss villain in order to prevent him from “stealing Christmas pleasure,” according to a tweet from Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell’s office.
The message states, “Christmas in NYC is safe.” The Grinch won’t be able to steal Christmas from us this year, and you can thank the NYPD for that. I wish you the best of holidays this season.
Later on Christmas Eve, the NYPD released a video of Sewell, the city’s first female police commissioner, greeting her officers at several precincts.
The NYPD tweeted Sunday night that Commissioner James O’Neill “took time to visit commands all around the five boroughs to wish them happy holidays and thank them for service” while officers worked around the clock to keep New York City secure during the holidays.
