Bernard’s School, will attend the 2023 Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell, Massachusetts, in June.
High school students interested in medicine from all across the country assemble for this National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists-sponsored event to hear from experts in the field, including Nobel laureates, about what it’s like to work in medicine as a career.

Newark is where Penafiel was born and is currently based. At Newark’s Robert Treat Academy Charter School, she graduated at the top of her class, making her valedictorian.
