NEWARK, NJ — A double homicide occurred at a bodega in Newark, New Jersey, late on Saturday night, and the families of the victims as well as the Newark Police Department are still attempting to make sense of what happened.
The investigation into the fatal shooting that resulted in the deaths of two people is still ongoing. Police are hunting for a black Mercedes that may have been used as a getaway vehicle in the attack, but little more is known about it.
The two people who were shot were victims of a double shooting that took place in the Central Ward of the city on Saturday night. Initial reports from the Newark Police Department indicate that the incident took place on Martin Luther King Boulevard at approximately six o’clock in the evening.
According to eyewitness accounts, two individuals armed with firearms entered the El Eden grocery store located on MLK Boulevard and immediately began firing their weapons.
At the site, it was determined that one of the victims had passed away. A second person was found to be deceased when they were taken to the hospital.
At this moment, the police have not identified any suspects and have not made any arrests in connection with the investigation. Investigations are currently being conducted by both the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
It is believed that the males drove away in a black Mercedes after fleeing the site.
