The NEW YORK (PIX11) — Between Thursday and Friday, the city may experience heavy rain and gusty gusts as a result of a powerful storm system. Temperatures will be low enough to cause snow to build in the upper regions of the interior, making travel hazardous.
There will be dangerous driving conditions further north as snow accumulates. As the coastal storm grows stronger, it will bring snow and heavy rain, but it will also bring winds that can reach 50 miles per hour and produce tidal flooding.
Everything was tranquil on Wednesday before the storm hit, and that serenity will continue through the night. There will be a rise in cloud cover, but no precipitation is forecast. The temperature will drop to the low 30s at night, with wind chills remaining in the high 20s.

Precipitation is expected to begin on Thursday at around lunchtime. There may be a brief period of snow in the start, but coastal areas may expect rain to replace it very fast. As the thermometer climbs above freezing, the rain/snow line will gradually shift to the north.
Towards evening, temperatures will drop into the low 40s.
Coastal areas should expect wind gusts of 40 mph or more on Thursday night and Friday, in addition to the rain. Starting with the high tide cycle on Thursday night, the onshore flow will create isolated coastal flooding. High tide on Friday is forecast to cause minor flooding across a wider area.
