N.j. Reports 2,340 Covid Cases, 10 Deaths as Positive Tests Soar.

On Thursday, New Jersey health officials announced 2,340 new cases of COVID-19, including 10 deaths. The numbers suggest that the state’s daily average of cases is on the rise.

Each new case results in fewer than one subsequent case if the transmission rate is less than 1, indicating a decreasing outbreak. If the transmission rate is 1, the number of cases has stabilized; if it’s greater than 1, the outbreak is growing.

The seven-day moving average of positive tests in New Jersey is 1,787, an increase of 26% from the previous week and 35% from the previous month.

Communities in Bergen County are now considered to have “high” levels of COVID-19 by the CDC. In contrast, the “low” community levels in Mercer County, and the remaining 19 counties in the state are classified as “medium.

Across 70 of the 71 hospitals in the state, 1,280 people were recorded as having confirmed or probable coronavirus cases as of Wednesday night.

There have been 35,213 deaths reported in the state with a population of 9.2 million due to COVID-19, with 32,097 verified and 3,116 probable deaths.
