The relatively recent trend of “Nature Schools” has recently taken up in New Jersey. It’s just like any other day of school, except that classes take place outside, no matter the weather.

As I learn more about this topic, I can see the why and where in the world around me every day. These nature schools, as far as I can tell, accept students as young as 3 and as elderly as 8 years old. Do the young people eventually adjust to it?

I can’t fathom sending my 17-year-old son out into this weather on a daily basis. As a result, I’ve been unable to locate any nature schools that accept high school students.

New Jersey is home to a number of different nature schools, such as South Mountain Nature School and Painted Oak Nature School.

There are no upfront costs associated with enrolling your child in this school, however, it operates similarly to a private school in that anybody can attend but parents must pay a fee.
