JERSEY CITY, NJ – According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, a man from Jersey City has been charged with Insurance Fraud after an investigation revealed that he filed a bogus insurance claim for a car that was involved in a motor vehicle collision. The inquiry revealed this information.
Issa Almaet, age 41, was taken into custody on Thursday, March 16 by investigators from the Insurance Fraud Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
He was later freed pending his first court appearance in the Central Judicial Processing Court, which is provisionally scheduled for March 23.
After conducting an investigation, Almaet was found to have filed a report with GEICO in which she made a false claim that the damage sustained by a 2014 Jeep Cherokee occurred after an insurance policy was purchased, while also knowingly concealing the fact that the damage had been caused in a collision prior to the purchase of the insurance policy.
