Football Player Was Killed in A Car Crash Following a Championship Victory Celebratio

A prominent college football player from New Jersey was sadly killed in a car accident early on Sunday.

Devin Willock was an offensive lineman at Georgia University. According to others who knew him, the accident occurred just after he accomplished a significant life objective.

Willock appeared to be on top of the world at Georgia’s football team’s national championship parade on Saturday.

However, according to Georgia authorities, the 20-year-old died hours later while travelling in an SUV driven by Chandler LeCroy, a 24-year-old Georgia recruiting employee. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the SUV reportedly collided with two utility poles and several trees, according to the police. LeCroy also perished.

Willock, a New Milford native who graduated from Paramus Catholic High School in 2020, attended New Milford.

Former Paramus Catholic teammate Christian Mahogany recalled, “He was definitely one of the best individuals I’ve ever known.”

According to Mahogany, the last time he texted Willock was after the national championship game “Best wishes, brother. This is all you’ve ever desired.”

“His parents were really fond of him, whereas his brother was extremely strict with him. It was a school football game. That was the end of it. He was never the type of child to go out. He was totally professional “Mahogany said.

Others who knew Willock stated that he worked hard to build a name for himself on and off the field before transferring from New Milford High School to Paramus Catholic.

“Initially, he lacked the necessary technical ability to be a great player, but he constantly have the will, passion, and work ethic to progress on his feet. By the end of his high school career, he had transformed into a top regional prospect “According to NJ.com’s senior recruiting reporter Todderick Hunt.

Immediately after selecting Georgia, Willock told Jersey Sports Zone “I am prepared to be a major player down there. I endeavour to make a difference.”

The offensive lineman participated in 15 games and made two starts during the previous season.

A UGA fan uploaded a photo of their 7-year-old grandson wearing Willock’s championship ring the night before Willock’s death.

Sen. Raphael Warnock paid tribute to Willock on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Atlanta, where President Joe Biden was also present.

“These families are in our prayers. Whatever directly affects one, indirectly affects all “Warnock said.

Willock and LeCroy were two “unique people who meant so much to the University of Georgia,” according to a statement from UGA.

The school community at Paramus Catholic expressed its devastation, saying that its thoughts and prayers are with Willock’s family and friends.

Two further occupants of the vehicle survived. They are currently hospitalised.
