Even Though There Were Rumours of A Family-Friendly Rebranding, Hooters Is Opening a Long-Awaited New Location.

In recent years, the company has been closing restaurants, and rumours that it was going to change its name have been debunked. This has made it harder for the company to open new restaurants.

Author’s Note

This article is based on what companies have said and what reputable news outlets have said. This article gives credit to Wikipedia.org, ScrapeHero.com, APNews.com, EatThis.com, and MyCentralJersey.com for the linked information.

Introduction

Wikipedia has a full and well-sourced summary of the Hooters restaurant entity: Hooters is a registered trademark used by two American restaurant chains: Hooters, Inc., based in Clearwater, Florida, and Hooters of America, Inc., based in Atlanta, Georgia, and owned by the private investment firm Nord Bay Capital (with TriArtisan Capital Advisor, as its advisor).

The Wikipedia page goes on to say how each chain is different: The company in Clearwater, Florida, kept control of restaurants in the Tampa Bay Area, the Chicago area, and one in Manhattan. All other locations were run by Hooters of America, which sold franchises to the rest of the U.S. and other countries.

It has a party atmosphere and waitresses who wear revealing clothes and are called “Hooters Girls.” Most of the food and drinks on the menu are burgers, steaks, seafood, and alcohol.

As of March 6, 2023, ScrapeHero.com says that there are 308 Hooters stores in the United States. Texas has 55 Hooters locations, which is about 18% of all Hooters locations in the U.S. It is the state with the most Hooters locations in the U.S.

Now, there are reports that a new Hooters will open in New Jersey. This is despite recent problems, such as false rumours about the company supposedly “rebranding.”

Let’s find out more.

Hooters, 2023

Recent rumours to the contrary were put to rest by APNews.com‘s “Hooters Says It Is Not Closing for a Millennial-Friendly Rebrand” on December 29, 2022: The restaurant chain’s spokesman told The Associated Press that this claim is “not true” and that the idea behind the chain is “here to stay.” The posts misrepresent a 2017 article that talked about some U.S. locations closing between 2012 and 2016, as well as changes the company made to its menu and decor more than a decade ago and a spin-off concept that opened in 2017.

The company was started in 1983, and it has locations all over the world.

A report on EatThis.com, however, shows that some domestic closures have happened more recently than the APNews.com excerpt suggests: The chain has been steadily shrinking since its peak of about 430 units less than a decade ago. Smart Scrapers says that there were 311 Hooters restaurants in the United States in the fall of 2022. However, ScrapeHero says that by the beginning of 2023, there were only 308 Hooters restaurants in the United States.

MyCentralJersey.com says that the above-mentioned New Jersey location will open soon: Late last year, internet rumours that Hooters was closing or changing its name were debunked. Since then, Hooters has been remodelling the former Mangia Bene restaurant at the Ramada Inn on northbound Route 202-31, right across the highway from Jake’s, which also closed during the pandemic.

The new business will be at 250 Route 202-31 in Raritan Township, between Hart Boulevard and Commerce Street in the Flemington area. There is no set date for when it will open yet.
