The makings of a country song in a breakup? Florida Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Georgia Line have had a lot of success as a country music duo, but things weren’t always smooth between them behind the scenes. In 2010, Hubbard and Kelley formed their partnership, and in 2012, their debut hit, “Cruise,” became a worldwide phenomenon.
After a string of four albums between 2012 and 2019, news broke in 2020 that Tyler and his wife Hayley Hubbard had stopped following the rest of the band. As Tyler and Hayley were prominent supporters of Kamala Harris and Brian, who is married to Brittney Kelley, bashed Joe Biden supporters, many were quick to conclude that political differences drove a rift between them.

In a joint interview on SiriusXM‘s Exit 209, the two men discussed the controversy on social media. In the midst of the election and everything else that was happening, Tyler informed Storme Warren, “I unfollowed BK for a few days.” And then I called him and said, “Hey buddy, I love you,” and I meant it.
The affection I feel for you in real life far exceeds what I feel for you in your novels. That being said, I’ve decided to stop following you. There is no malice intended. The affection I feel for you has not faded. I still consider you my sibling. Simply put, I didn’t want to be reminded of it every time I logged into Instagram. So, it really wasn’t that big of a deal.”
What Is the Reason for Their Breakup?
To that, Tyler said the pair had previously butted heads. We’ve been to therapy together, sat together while wishing to murder each other, he remarked. Yet by the time, it was through, we were embracing one another. What I’m getting at, do you understand? For no other reason than that we’re brothers and doing so is expected of us.
Life Rolls On, their fifth studio album, was released in 2021, but by 2022, the members of the band had begun to hint at a breakup and pursue individual endeavors. “We’re kind of leveraging these last 12 shows,” Tyler said to People in February. In June, Brian dropped a lone LP named Sunshine State of Mind. He expressed his gratitude to fans by telling CMT, “Me and Tyler, individually, we appreciate all of the love.” This seems like the logical next step to me. This was a surprise to us. To put it mildly, we’re ecstatic.
Tyler is a fantastic writer. He may be recording an album as well. I have no idea when that will be released, but I can’t wait to hear it and see what it can do. There’s nothing similar about us, in my opinion; we’re two different people.
What we do on our own is fantastic, too. I really enjoy working with them, and I think it’s great that we can offer our fans and their fans something unique. To paraphrase, “I believe this to be a variant of that.”
