LINDEN — According to authorities, a shooting that occurred early on Sunday morning on Chatham Place resulted in the deaths of two adults and a child, while another person is in critical condition as a result of the incident.
According to a statement that Mayor Derek Armstead made on social media, the passing of the second child occurred later in the day.

According to Captain Christopher Guenther, officers from the police department arrived at the residence after receiving allegations of a shooting around 9:30 in the morning. When the authorities arrived, they discovered all three victims dead there: two adults and a child.
According to Guenther, the second child was in severe condition when he was taken to University Hospital in Newark, but he did not survive his stay there.
According to Guenther, it is suspected that the shooter is one of the deceased, and there is no longer any danger to the general public.
An initial claim of three fatalities was corrected by the mayor on his Facebook page later that afternoon when he stated that the number of fatalities had been updated to include two adults and two children.

Armstead wrote on his Facebook page, “This morning Linden endured another tragedy.” It is thought that the shooter is one of the people who has died.
There are absolutely no words that can adequately explain the agony, loss, and sorrow that we are all going through at this very moment.
In a statement that was released in the afternoon on Sunday, Governor Phil Murphy stated that he was closely watching the shooting and that the investigation is still ongoing.
According to Murphy, “Linden is a strong community, and we will help them while they mourn and recover in whatever manner is feasible.”
