FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, a collision involving 15 vehicles occurring near Federal Way on Sunday morning caused numerous lanes of Interstate 5 to be stopped.
The Washington State Department of Transportation was the first to tweet about the event, which took place shortly after 6:30 in the morning and was located just south of S 272nd Street.
According to the agency, the collision initially closed all four lanes, but they were freed up shortly before 8:30 in the morning.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the collision resulted in a backup that stretched for three miles.

Rick Johnson, who is the Trooper Public Information Office for the Washington State Patrol, also tweeted about the event early on Sunday morning.
According to Johnson, the event started out as an accident involving two vehicles but quickly escalated to involving fifteen vehicles. According to him, two vehicles flipped over.
Johnson stated that there were no major injuries recorded as a result of the incident.
