A big pot company will only be able to sell marijuana for recreational use at one of its three New Jersey stores.<\/p>\n

The state Cannabis Regulatory Commission did not renew Curaleaf’s retail and production licenses on Thursday, April 13. Its website says that it is a “vertically integrated cannabis operator” with a presence in 21 states.<\/p>\n

Multiple news sources, citing a business spokesperson, say that the vote affects Curaleaf’s locations in Edgewater Park and Bellmawr, and that Thursday, April 20, will be the last day that recreational marijuana can be sold there. The place in Bordentown was not affected.<\/p>\n

Boris Jordan<\/a>, the chairman of Curaleaf, thought that the move was a way to get back at the city of Bellmawr for shutting down its “cultivation” site last month.<\/p>\n

The CRC didn’t answer Daily Voice’s request for information right away when it was sent on Friday, April 14.<\/p>\n

“Today’s unprecedented action by the New Jersey<\/a> Cannabis Regulatory Commission’s Board, which went against the Commission’s own staff recommendation that our adult use licenses be renewed, is very disappointing,” said company Chairman Boris Jordan.<\/p>\n

“We think the CRC Board misunderstood the rules, and we don’t agree with its decision to punish Curaleaf because we needed to move production to a single local facility,” the company said.<\/p>\n

Curaleaf said it “remains open for business” and promised to fight the decision “by any legal means necessary.”<\/p>\n
