On Tuesday, April 11, hundreds of firefighters descended upon the scene of an out-of-control fire that began as a brush fire in Jersey City but quickly spread across the Newark Bay-Hudson County Turnpike Extension and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. As of four o’clock in the afternoon, the fire that was initially reported at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Garfield had grown into a widespread 7-alarm wildfire.<\/p>\n

Between Liberty State Park and 45th Street Station, the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Service was halted in both directions while maintenance was being performed.<\/p>\n

According to the announcement made by the city, drivers have been rerouted, and they are strongly advised to stay away from the section of the Turnpike that is located close to the incident. The city has stated that they are keeping an eye on the quality of the air.<\/p>\n

A video uploaded by a citizen shows thick smoke coming from the location where the incident occurred.<\/p>\n
