According to the announcement made by his union, Jersey City Police Officer Noel Santiago, Jr., who was also a former correctional and sheriff’s officer in Hudson County, passed away due to cancer.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association tweeted, “JCPOBA expresses our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Officer Noel Santiago, Jr.” Officer Santiago was killed in the line of duty.<\/p>\n

“Although our community here in Jersey City mourns the loss of Noel, we are eternally inspired by his bravery, professionalism, and dedication to the people he served,” Tweets with the hashtags “#F***Cancer #EOW #JerseyCity #JCPD”<\/p>\n

According to his LinkedIn page, Santiago worked as a corrections officer for Hudson County in Kearny between the months of August 2005 and March 2007, after which he worked for the county sheriff’s office until June 2014, after which he worked as a police officer for Jersey City for almost nine years. This work was done between August 2005 and March 2007.<\/p>\n

When he rescued a family from a burning building, his colleagues gave him an award in recognition of his heroic actions.<\/p>\n
