In a recent trial in Hackensack, the getaway driver in a Fairview armed robbery that went deadly was found guilty of felony murder and other charges.<\/p>\n

For the murder of David Duque-Soto in his Fourth Street apartment in June 2019, David Martinez of North Bergen will serve at least 30 years in state prison.<\/p>\n

The four-week trial will conclude on April 21 with sentencing by Superior Court Judge Margaret M. Foti.<\/p>\n

There were 16 witnesses presented by Assistant Bergen County Prosecutors Suzanne Cevasco and Matthew Fitzpatrick who testified that Martinez plotted the heist with three accomplices who later confronted and killed Duque-Soto in his house.<\/p>\n

Lexie Burke, a Jersey City resident, and the plot’s architect accepted a plea agreement from authorities in April of last year, admitting guilt on multiple counts including aggravated manslaughter.<\/p>\n

Two other suspects, Jersey City’s Carlos Burgos and North Bergen’s Raul Torres, who entered Duque-duplex Soto’s that night have yet to stand trial.<\/p>\n

The murder weapon was found in the attic of North Bergen resident Dylan E. Rodriguez, who is now facing charges of supplying and concealing the murder weapon. According to the Daily Voice, investigators conducted no fewer than six lawful searches of Rodriguez’s home.<\/p>\n

It now seems likely that Burke will testify against all three of the remaining defendants.<\/p>\n

According to the authorities, the group went to Duque-house Soto’s on the evening of June 29, 2019, to rob him of drugs and cash. Prosecutors claimed their presence lasted less than a minute.<\/p>\n

Investigators informed Daily Voice that, in a bizarre turn of events, a friend who had been in the bathroom at the time of the murder caught a bus to West New York and rushed into police headquarters to tell what had happened.<\/p>\n

Duque-Soto was dead from gunshot wounds and acute blunt-force trauma by the arriving ALS unit.<\/p>\n

Only 48 hours after Duque-murder, Soto thanks to the diligent work of multiple detectives from the office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella and the assistance of the Fairview police, several people were arrested.<\/p>\n

During their investigation, the police acquired security footage of the area that showed two unique automobiles, which led them to develop suspects. Fairview and North Bergen warranted searches were conducted after a series of interviews.<\/p>\n

Before this, Burke and some others had gone to Duque-flat Soto’s to buy a pound of weed from him, but they left after he allegedly pulled a gun on them.<\/p>\n

Apparently bent on vengeance, the group quickly returned.<\/p>\n

On Monday, a Hackensack jury convicted Martinez of first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, and two counts of weapon possession based on the evidence presented at trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
