After an incident on Sunday in which a toy helicopter crashed into a pool, injuring four people, state officials have ordered the water park at the American Dream entertainment complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, to remain closed until they have finished their investigation.<\/p>\n

DreamWorks Water Park’s building has been deemed an “unsafe structure” by the state Department of Consumer Affair’s construction office, according to an email sent out by a DCA representative on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Amusement Ride Safety Unit of the department has issued an “order to cease operations” for all water park attractions in the mall “until all investigations are complete, all relevant third party inspection reports and supporting documentation have been received, reviewed, and a determination into the cause of the failure can be assessed.”<\/p>\n

The Nickelodeon Universe theme park and the remainder of the shops and restaurants at American Dream are open for business as usual during the closure.<\/p>\n

Workers from the Amusement Ride Safety Inspections Unit and state building construction regulators have been at the water park this week to determine what caused the ornamental aircraft to crash into the pool.<\/p>\n

The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Sunday, right next to where two water slides emptied into the pool. Three people received care in the park and returned home after the incident, while one was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

State officials claimed ignorance of the injuries sustained by those who were on the ground when the aircraft crashed close to where two water slides exited.<\/p>\n

Officials believe the decorative aircraft fell from “ceiling attachment points” in the structure, causing it to flip over and crash upside down in the pool.<\/p>\n

A DCA representative stated they didn’t know how long the inspection process would take.<\/p>\n

After the helicopter crash on Sunday, the water park was closed for the rest of the week, including Monday and Tuesday. Also, American Dream stated that it would be closed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
