Far Rockaway resident Lakisha Martinez was one of thousands of people whose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds were taken from their EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) cards. Her grandkid count is at five.<\/p>\n

And if you think it’s tough to feed one mouth, try feeding five! To quote Martinez: Right now, cash is tight. Who is going to pay for all these kids’ meals?<\/p>\n

She complained to the city’s Department of Human Resources, but they said they were powerless to help.<\/p>\n

Martinez: “That’s not the kind of reaction I was hoping for.”<\/p>\n
