The man who police say was seen on a viral video throwing a puppy through a metal storefront fence in Westchester County has been apprehended.<\/p>\n

Yonkers police said they have a misdemeanour case against Anthoin McPherson, 29, of Mount Vernon, for the alleged abuse of his 8-month-old canine, Maximus.<\/p>\n

McPherson was taken into custody following the release of a video depicting the event, which took place in Yonkers’s 4th Precinct and was widely shared on social media.<\/p>\n

In response to the video, police launched an investigation, and with the assistance of the SPCA of Westchester County’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit, they tracked down McPherson and Maximum within a few hours.<\/p>\n

The investigation revealed more instances of abuse committed by McPherson against Maximus, including a belt beating that occurred in a building’s stairway. Police have posted a video of this incident and the original footage of McPherson throwing Maximus online.<\/p>\n

McPherson was given bail and will be arraigned at a later time.<\/p>\n
