Police say that on January 7th, someone stabbed Jasmine ‘Star’ Parker to death on Gallaudet Street NE. Police are still looking into it, but no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n

On Monday, members of Star’s family, friends, and community gathered to pay their respects.<\/p>\n

Budd’s place of employment is HIPS, an organization that provides services to people who have been impacted by drug use or sexual exchange due to pressure, choice, or circumstance.<\/p>\n

According to Budd, the District of Columbia is making strides toward ending the violence that has plagued the transgender community for far too long. But there’s more she’d like to see.<\/p>\n
