Some areas of the East Coast and the Midwest may be able to see the launch immediately after liftoff; this includes New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Forecasters are predicting gloomy skies, which would either totally prevent or severely limit North Jersey and Central Jersey residents’ ability to see the 59-foot-tall Electron rocket.<\/p>\n

“With this mission, NASA is helping promote a developing low-Earth space economy and continuing Wallops’ 35 years of assistance to the commercial launch industry,” NASA said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Wallops Island, Virginia, home of Virginia Space’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, will be the site of Launch Complex 2’s blastoff.<\/p>\n

Winds could be an issue, but otherwise, conditions should be fine. Daytime winds of 21\u201324 mph, with gusts to 32 mph, are forecasted. The National Weather Service predicts that nighttime winds will reach speeds of 15-17 miles per hour.<\/p>\n
