In addition to increasing taxation, the chancellor aims to provide targeted assistance to those who need it the most, with a special emphasis on retirees, who spend the majority of their time at home and struggle to pay skyrocketing heating costs on low incomes.<\/p>\n
“From the fall, we will give almost eight million retiree families that get the winter fuel payment an additional one-off pensioner cost-of-living payment of \u00a3300,” Mr. Sunak said in the Commons.<\/p>\n
This means that over 8 million retirees will get an additional \u00a3300 to assist offset the expense of increasing energy costs.<\/p>\n
The Winter Fuel Payment, sometimes known as a “heating allowance,” is a tax-free payment made by the Department of Work and Pensions each year. Anyone who qualifies may earn a yearly payment of \u00a3100-300.<\/p>\n
